Autumn Newsletter has arrived!
The latest programme for the next three months is now available at the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre or on-line: Autumn Newsletter
There is information about our regular health and well-being courses as well as groups who meet regularly at the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre such as Maldon Art Group and Maldon Golden Movies.
We have lots of activities for children - both after school and in the school holidays - hope you can join us for the special CINEMA UNDER THE STARS during Youth Week. The Community Bus is travelling all over the district visiting galleries, op-shops and even the beach, so make sure you 'get on the bus'!
We also encourage all of Maldon to get involved in our Climate Flags initiative - we need to build awareness in the community and beyond about the need for climate action NOW!
Cinema under the Stars
To celebrate Youth Week 2019, we invite everyone to enjoy an outdoor cinema on the Bill Woodfull Oval on Saturday 13 April. Run by local young people, this event will be fun for the whole family!
The movie Coco (2017) rated PG will be shown on the big screen at 6.30pm, with the event kicking off at 5.30pm with a sausage sizzle, games and entertainment. There will be traditional movie snacks like popcorn, mixed lollies, ice cream and drinks available.
The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living and to reverse his family’s ban on music.
Bring your own picnic blankets, rugs, cushions, bean bags and come early to save your spot.
There is no cost to get in, thanks to support from the Victorian State Government, but it is $5 to hire a chair.

CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The theme this year is #BetterforBalance, promoting gender balance across all sectors – in Parliament, Boardrooms, sports, business and more.
Maldon Neighbourhood Centre invite all genders to come along to a fun evening of live music and performance by local female artists on Friday 8 March from 7pm to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019.
How will Climate Change impact Maldon?
The Maldon Neighbourhood Centre hosted a presentation and conversation ‘Understanding climate impacts in our local community’ on Thursday 28 February. The night was attended by approximately 40 people.
We heard from presenters Laurel Freeland and Michael Weadon - trained Climate Reality Leaders through Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project – who volunteer to educate communities about the realities of climate change and promote local and global solutions.
This was an opportunity to join the conversation about what the community value most about the local district, to share our climate concerns and discuss the type of action we need to see.
