The Great Maldon Teddy Bear Adventure

Once upon a time, in the picturesque town of Maldon, the teddy bears gathered with a heartfelt idea — to create a magical mid-winter picnic adventure and invite children and their beloved teddy bears from near and far.

After a summer that touched many neighbouring communities, the bears decided it was time to bring a little joy, kindness and fairy tale magic back into the world. The Progress Hall at the Maldon Community Centre in Francis Street will be transformed into an enchanted indoor forest — a whimsical place to picnic and play, no matter the winter weather.

With the help of local primary schools and preschools, the forest will come to life with imagination and wonder. Friends of the bears will fill the day with music, storytelling, art workshops, a teddy bear parade, and even a Teddy Bear Hospital for those bears in need of a little extra love and repair.

Sparkling teddy bear displays appear throughout the village ahead of the Great Maldon Teddy Bear Adventure

The first enchanting teddy bear window displays have begun appearing throughout the historic village of Maldon, transforming shopfronts into storybook scenes ahead of the highly anticipated Great Maldon Teddy Bear Adventure on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

The growing collection of displays is part of a village wide celebration leading up to the Great Maldon Teddy Bear Adventure, a family friendly event that promises a day of teddy bear themed fun, entertainment and community spirit.

Among the first windows revealed is a dazzling floral wonderland where teddy bears nestle amongst cascading blossoms and secret garden treasures, while another display sees adventurous bears taking flight in a glowing hot air balloon high above Maldon and another has a very clever bear playing a baby grand piano. Elsewhere, curious bears are already peeking out from unexpected places, inviting visitors to begin their own teddy bear discovery trail.

Event organisers said the early window reveals are designed to build excitement and encourage visitors to explore Maldon's unique shopping village in the weeks leading up to the event.

"The teddy bears have begun arriving in Maldon and they're bringing a little bit of magic with them. Every window tells its own story and together they're creating a delightful village wide adventure that will continue to grow over the coming weeks."

Families are invited to bring their favourite teddy bear and enjoy a delightful steam train journey through the beautiful Goldfields countryside.
