October Bus Day Trip - Yung Balug Aboriginal Artefacts Museum

In October, the community bus will take us to the Yung Balug Aboriginal Artefacts Museum in Boort, Victoria.

The museum displays a large collection of Yung Balug Clan artefacts, founded by Paul Haw, who passionately shares his vast knowledge of local Aboriginal history and the environment. What began as a small collection of locally found grinding stones and axes has grown into a rich educational space dedicated to preserving local Aboriginal history.

Located a little over an hour from Maldon, our tour will explore this fascinating collection of photographs, artworks, tools, and weapons. You will have the opportunity to handle some of the items and even try grinding wattle seed using traditional stones.

The bus day trip costs $30, which includes a donation to the museum. While there is no entry fee, donations keep the museum running, and 100% of contributions go toward improving the exhibition.

The museum will provide us with tea and biscuits, and then we will have lunch at a local cafe in Boort. Afterwards, we will explore the lovely town—located on Lake Boort—before heading back to Maldon at 4:00 PM.
