Community Pantry is back!
As Maldon, along with the rest of regional Victoria, bounces in and out of lockdown, the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre has re-started the Maldon Community Pantry – town-wide delivery of frozen meals – instead of running the popular Community Lunch on Wednesdays.
“Unfortunately we cannot run the Community Lunch under the current restrictions.”explains Maldon Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator, Amy Atkinson. “The Community Pantry is a friendly way to provide some extra support to residents during lockdowns. Frozen meals are delivered in a COVID-safe way and there is often a chance for a chat and catch-up too.”
The meal deliveries will continue during lockdowns and as restrictions ease Community Lunch will resume.
Over 700 meals were delivered across Maldon during the extended lockdown in 2020 reaching community members living alone or those particularly vulnerable to COVID
According to last years meal recipients, “The meals are excellent, full of vegetables and of a good size.” “I love to see a friendly face delivering the food, it improves my day.”
If you are interested in having one or more meals delivered, please call 5475 2093 or email info@maldonnc.org.au. For $5 donation, you receive a home-delivered frozen main meal.
Maldon Neighbourhood Centre will be rescheduling all planned activities effected by the current lockdown and in the spirit of optimism, have lots more opportunities for learning, gathering and connection in the coming months.
