Roles and responsibilities
The roles that volunteers perform allow the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre to operate as a professional organisation catering to the needs of the local community. Without the commitment and support of our volunteers, the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre would not be able to fulfil its mission and vision.

Hours of work
The Centre is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9am to 3pm. Volunteer shifts are either morning (9am – 12pm), or afternoon (12pm – 3pm). Volunteers are encouraged to commit to a regular shift either weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
If this is not possible, you can also be placed on an ‘emergency volunteer’ list. This is to cover when other volunteers are unwell, or unable to attend for other reasons.

Training
Irrespective of past experience or training, full induction and training will be provided to every volunteer before they commence their first shift.

For every hour per week that you volunteer, you receive 10% off the fees for the course of your choice!

NOT AVAILABLE ON YOGA CLASSES OR OCCASIONAL CHILDCARE

Regular tasks
There are a number of tasks that need to be completed on a daily or weekly basis. Volunteers are encouraged to become as involved as they wish in these daily activities. Some of these include:

  • Receiving and receipting course enrolments
  • Meeting and greeting visitors, helping with course enquiries and access to computers
  • Setting up rooms for courses
  • Answering phone calls and taking messages

Special projects
In addition to the above regular tasks, volunteers are being sought to assist with specific ongoing roles. If you would be interested in any of the following, please contact us to discuss the opportunity further.

Administration Support, including:

  • Data entry
  • File maintenance
  • Stationery auditing and purchasing

Event Assistance, including:

  • Obtaining sponsorship
  • Event logistics
  • Volunteer recruitment for events

Communications, including:

  • Newsletters
  • Program Brochures

Web and technology support

  • Website maintenance
  • Social media maintenance

OH&S Volunteer Coordinator, including:

  • OH&S audits every six months
  • Monitoring compliance
  • Undertaking OH&S training
  • Regular reporting on OH&S issues
