A Big Year in 2017

Created: Tuesday, 13 December 2016

The Maldon Neighbourhood Centre is busy preparing for a big year in 2017 with many new projects and programs in the pipeline.

There is a great variety of short courses, workshops and classes on offer at the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre throughout the year. Coming up in 2017, we have Introduction to Interior Design run by experienced educator and designer Robyn Sturgeon, who is a recent arrival to Maldon.

We will be offering the 5 week Simple Woodwork course at the Maldon Men’s Shed again – this time with a selection of projects to choose from. Josie Emery will be back due to popular demand teaching professional writing and we have a range of health and well-being classes including tai chi and yoga.

The successful ‘Appy Hour’ Digital Learning Pop-Up will be run again at the Kangaroo Hotel so make sure you hop (or pop?) in to improve your digital skills in a relaxed and informal setting.

“The Maldon Neighbourhood Centre is a resource for everyone in our community and we try hard to be relevant to as many people as possible.” Explains Centre Coordinator, Amy Atkinson. “In 2017 our main focus will be on Age Friendly projects, life-long learning and we will be supporting a great project called Complimentary Caravan working with the Maldon Primary School and Maldon Hospital.”

“We are proud of our achievements this year, which include installing a 3kw solar panel system on a purpose-built pergola in the community garden, delivering the Maldon Community Lunch to over 45 people each week and more recently being a Highly Commended Network Partner in the inaugural GoDigi Awards, part of the National Year of Digital Inclusion.”

The achievements of the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre are all thanks to the generous support of the Maldon community and our partners in the community.

“Sincere thanks to our members, volunteers, staff and all participants in the activities of the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre. We wish the Tarrangower community a safe and happy festive season.”

The Maldon Neighbourhood Centre will be closed from Monday 19 December until 9 January but information about up-coming events will be available on our website (www.maldonnc.org.au) and facebook page (www.facebook.com/maldonnc).
