Powering ahead

Created: Thursday, 28 April 2016

The Long Lunch Fundraiser held at the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre last weekend was an unqualified success. The 45 people in attendance rolled out the door, wishing they had worn elastic pants after enjoying a gourmet feast provided by hard-working MNC contributors.

The Maldon Neighbourhood Centre’s new project “Powering Our Community: The Solar Pergola Project” was officially launched at the Long Lunch Fundraiser. This is a crowd-funding campaign to raise $6000 for a 3kw solar panel system to power the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre.

The crowd-funding campaign is now open and receiving donations, please visit http://www.thepeoplessolar.com/projects/mnc if you would like to make a contribution.

The Long Lunch Fundraiser raised $1000 - a fantastic start to the campaign- and it was also a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy our wonderful neighbourhood centre.

“Thank you to the local businesses and people who generously donated supplies towards the Long Lunch.” said Coordinator, Amy Atkinson, “We are pleased with the community support for our campaign so far and hope to reach our $6000 target in the next 6 weeks.”

Every donation received goes towards a 3kw solar panel system for the Solar Pergola in the community garden. Each year, we expect the value of the savings from our solar panels and split systems to be over $1,000. We want to spend that money in ways that broaden our reach, build our community and meet the social, educational, health and recreational needs in Maldon and district, this means improving the facilities at the Centre and doing more in the community. Help us to achieve our $6000 target by donating today. For more information on the campaign please visit http://www.thepeoplessolar.com/projects/mnc or contact Amy Atkinson at the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre on 5475 2093 or info@maldonnc.org.au
