David and Christine Hinrichsen launched Delicious Delicacies almost five years ago after many successful years running Figtree Hollow Tearooms & Gallery in Bendigo. This is where they gained experience producing & serving delicious food.

"We were ready for a new challenge, saw a gap in the market & began the development of our Handmade Chocolate Truffles" explains Christine.

All the Chocolate Truffles are rolled by hand & top quality Australian ingredients are used wherever possible. After much taste testing David and Christine settled on their first six flavours & introduced them to the public at farmers markets.

They proved to be an instant success & the range has grown from there to twelve varieties, including the introduction of the latest, & so far most popular flavour, salted caramel.

Truffles from Delicious Delicacies are available in selected cafes & restaurants throughout Central Victoria in addition to local farmers' markets.

"Farmers' markets are a great opportunity to engage directly with customers and get their feedback" explains David. "We have found many people these days have allergies and food intolerances, so we have developed some new product lines to cater for alternative diets".

In 2014, David and Christine introduced Energy balls for those following Gluten free, Dairy free & Egg free diets, filled with fruits & Ancient grains they are a tasty healthy alternative to their decadent truffles.

As the business has grown over time, the operation has expanded and now David and Christine boast a commercial kitchen at their home to fulfil increasing orders.

If you (or your mum) have not yet had the pleasure of trying one of David and Christine's 'Delicious Delicacies', then make sure you visit their stall at the Maldon Market, 9-2pm on Mother's Day Sunday 10 May. All twelve varieties will be available in a special Mother's Day gift pack.
